Why We Love The Sims

Ah The Sims, a game I have been playing since I was a young teenager! A game where I could be whoever I wanted to be and do whatever I wanted. The first time I played The Sims I was instantly sucked in and ended up playing for hours and hours without even knowing where the time had gone. But what I really wanted to talk about today is Why We love The Sims, what is it about the game that makes it so popular and makes us return time and time again.

Being who you want to be

I think one of the things that makes The Sims so appealing is the fact that we can be whoever we damn well want to be. You want to dress in that short skirt that you wouldn’t wear out of the game? Do it! You want a mohawk? Do it! You wanna wear bunny slippers all day with your dressing gown, go for it my friend, Sim’s don’t judge and even if they did it’s fine….we can always start a fight with them!

Killing a Sim

Come on admit it we have all done it. We have all killed at least one of our Sims. Without trying to come off as a would be Sims Killer, there is so many ways to do it too. But why do we love killing them off? For me it’s boredom, I simply get bored with my sim and yes I dispose of them in whichever way I see fit. I have included a few ways to ‘dispose’ of your sim should you wish to *wink wink*

  • Death By Pool – Take 1 Swimming pool, take away steps and be sure to make it a priority that your sim can’t swim!
  • Death by Walls – Pause the game, build walls around your sims but don’t include a door
  • Death by fire – A simple one – you only need an oven, no alarm and a sim who can’t cook!

On that note lets move away from ‘ways to kill a sim’……

Life is a soap

If you’ve never married another sim but then slept with your neighbour and had sim babies with him/her then where have you been?! Folks you have the perfect opportunity to create your own soaps. You can kill, marry and have babies with the richest man/woman in the neighbourhood, heck chat up the maid too while you’re at it or even the postman…the world is your oyster!

Seducing Malcolm LandGraab

If you are a Sims fan you will be familiar with Malcolm Landgraab. Malcolm is a middle aged man who also happens to be the richest man in the game and trust me his house can be yours, yeah his married and got kids…but this is The Sims dude and trust me I’ve done it. I have made Malcolm Landgraab fall in love with me and moved into his massive mansion, it took time friends, but I did it!!

Woo hoo

Nothing like hearing those fireworks to know that you have sealed the deal with Margaret and Dennis, get bored straight after? Not a problem..there’s always Dennis’s Friend from across the road….

I think my final conclusion to this is that we love The Sims because it gives us the chance to escape the real world and the problems that it brings. We can do whatever we want and there is no consequences for us outside the game as a result of it.

As per usual I would love to hear your thoughts! I always adore talking about The Sims so be sure to leave your comment below!

I used to play a version of the sims but didn’t get very far. Might have to revisit and have a go again as I enjoy unwinding with games, might be nice to have a character that isn’t like me (or is the me I wish I was!!!) thanks for sharing as has some tips!!

Sims will always be one of my top five favourite games! I’ve grown up with the series as well and I love seeing it grow. I can spend for hours making houses, I think I spend more time there than actually playing the game. I adore using all the cheats! Want thousands and millions of money at the beginning of the game? Motherlode! I couldn’t do it without that… Like who wants a one bedroom house when you can grab yourself and three, four bedroom! Woop

YES YES YES!!!! And now I know I’ll be up all night simming instead of blogging 🙈 I also love that no matter how broke your sim is – a quick cheat will always mean you can order in that pizza for dinner!

I haven’t played the sims for so long! I used to love it when I was younger and I really want to get back into it. It’s nice to just take my mind away from everything else!

I absolutely adore The Sims! I still play Sims 3 whenever I need to just veg out for a day and it’s so much fun! It is kinda morbid to enjoy killing your Sims in ever more creative ways but I still do hahah! I also love watching Sims speed builds on YouTube, I’m an ultimate nerd hehe! Fab post!

I LOVE THE SIMS. I’ve been playing since the first game came out and I absolutely loved it. Discovering all the cheats was so much fun! I’ve seen it evolve so much and I’m so excited to play the pets expansion because finally a PROPER expansion pack is coming out! I don’t need new gym equipment, give me that cat! The Sims 4 is amazing but the DLCs have been a hit and miss unfortunately. And I miss the ability to change colours and materials of absolutely everything from the Sims 3! It was my absolute favourite, everything was so much more unique! I don’t have any friends who play this game so I always get so excited when I actually find fellow Sims addicts!

    OMG I LOVE THIS POST!
Sadly for some reason Sims never works for me for more than a little while. There was a time I was in love and played all the time. I’m still in love with it but ever since the blue screen showed up I’ve never had a chance to play it. I’ve tried twice I think but each time after a few days a blue screen ruins my life!
Thank you for refreshing memories! 😀
