A Guide to Christmas Traditions

We all have traditions at Christmas but today I wanted to share some traditions with you all in case you people wanted to start these for yourselves, I know that I love starting up new traditions and I also love hearing about other people’s too!

New Bedding on Christmas Eve

This may seem really weird but I really really like to have fresh bedding on Christmas Eve! There is nothing better then being all fresh from a Lush bath and then getting into fresh sheets the night before Christmas. I don’t know about anyone else but I am such a child at Christmas and the chances of me falling straight to sleep on Christmas Eve are really low so having clean bedding helps me drift off!

Why not check out this gorgeous bedding from Asda?

Christmas Eve Boxes

So our elf Edward usually leaves us with a Christmas Eve box but why not make your own? You can fill it with new PJ’s, a Christmas DVD and book plus some chocolate as well!

Check out these Christmas Eve Boxes from Not On The High Street!

Go and see a Pantomine

I used to go to the panto every year when I was a kid and now I’m an adult that hasn’t changed because I now take my kids every year! We always go to the big panto in Canterbury and this year it’s Peter Pan starring Barry from EastEnders (I believe his real name is Shawn Williamson but he will always be Barry) and a couple of others from CBeebies programming!

If you’re interested in going to see Peter Pan at The Marlowe Theatre this year then tickets can be purchased from the box office.

Leave some presents for later

This is a Christmas Day Tradition for me. Basically we will all open our stockings in the morning and a couple of presents from under the tree and then leave the rest till after dinner. I feel like it spreads the day out for me and the kids seem to enjoy the idea of opening presents up both in the morning and in the afternoon!

Go out for Hot Chocolate and a minced pie

A simple tradition but one I like to mix in with some Christmas Shopping and at the moment I am loving Costa’s Billionaires Hot Chocolate! Add a minced pie to the side or even some shortbread and you got yourself a lovely festive treat whilst being out in the fresh and frosty December air!

I would love to hear all of your traditions and you never know if I like them enough then I may just use them so they can be passed on to my kids kids!

Check out Day 8 from last year right here!

These are some lovely traditions, one I’ve got planned for the girls is new Christmas PJ’s on Christmas Eve and also one for the whole family is to go around Cornwall on a Christmas Lights tour, a few of the small towns and villages light up the entire road and it’s something I’ve been wanting to do since moving to Cornwall! Great post! xx

This sounds like a really good idea! Unfortunately any pre-Christmas traditions for us include dad leaving mum’s present until Christmas Eve and just a lot of cleaning to be done. But I wouldn’t have it any other way! It feels strange when it doesn’t happen that way!

These are great traditions and my favourite would have to be mince pie and hot chocolate! Yum! 🙂
