A Christmas interview with lifeofktkinnes
For today’s Blogmas post I sat down and interviewed my good friend Katie, read on to read all about her feelings on Christmas!
1. What is it about Christmas that you love?
I just love the atmosphere when you walk through the streets. People rushing out of the cold, fighting through the crowds to get things done, the music playing everywhere, and all the best films come on tv again!
2. What’s your favourite part of Christmas Day?
When my whole family gets together! EVery year without fail, the 4 of us in my house, my granny, my mum’s aunt, uncle, 3 cousins, their partners, and all the kids get together early afternoon for drinks and nibbles and general festive fun! It normally involves crushing us all into a car, with either me or Rachel driving, everyone drinking and talking about the upcoming year. And normally it’s an excuse for the designated driver to drink too much afterwards!
3. What’s your favourite Christmas film?
Ooooh this is a tough one… I’m going to name my 3 top favourites – The Santa Clause (with Charlie and Tim Allen as Santa!), The Miracle on 34th Street (the remake with Matilda!), and the one I’m actually hosting the watch along for on Bloggers Tribe – Love Actually!
4. What’s one thing you want for Christmas this year?
Haha are we being realistic here? Because my dream present would be a little house where I open the door to see it already decorated perfectly for me and a cocker spaniel puppy bouncing towards me! However, one thing I really do want for Christmas this year is some new clothes.
5. Best Christmas food to munch?
Definitely has to be my sister’s homemade Christmas Pudding served with some hot custard!
6. Do you have any traditions?
Haha a whole load of them! Every year on Christmas Eve, Mum and I spend the morning in the kitchen while Dad and Rachel clean, then we rush through the shower and down to our local rugby club for Christmas music and drinks. From there, we head home (now with a drunk granny in the car with us) for a lasagne or some sort of casserole. Then, we’ll watch It’s A Wonderful Life until time to go to the midnight church service! Christmas Day itself has a lot of traditions, but basically we try and have a good day just as the family. Although each year we swear we need to get up later, and each year Rachel and I have us up for presents at 7am!
7. Top 3 Christmas songs?
Last Christmas, Mistletoe and Wine, and Merry Christmas Everyone! Although I am currently loving the Bloggers Tribe Christmas Playlist on Spotify!
8. What does Christmas mean to you?
Christmas means time to reflect on the past year, and celebrate being with your loved ones. I actually heard on the radio that people make photo baubles of loved ones who aren’t there at this time of year (whether due to travel or no longer being with us) and hanging them on the tree so these people are still with you during this special time.
9. Where will you be spending Christmas this year?
I’ll be spending Christmas at my parents’ house! It’s actually possibly the last Christmas we’ll have in this house as my parents are hoping to move, and it makes me quite sad because of all the memories of Christmases Past in that house… but a new house for new memories.
10. Do you have a Christmas tip for everyone?
Start planning in January and make use of the sales! Or at least spread the cost across a few months rather than going crazy at the last minute and spending a fortune!
