Doing good in the festive season
Doing good things for others makes us feel great about ourselves, at least this is how it makes me feel! Saying merry Christmas to someone in the street or holding a door open for someone can make all the difference to a person’s day.
So what good can we do for others during Christmas? Let’s have a look…
So these are real easy to take part in as most supermarkets will be running one. Supermarkets or some shopping centres set up a big trolley or a box and the idea is that you can buy a toy and just pop it into the trolley/box for a child to receive at Christmas. Usually the donations go to a children’s ward up the local hospital.
When buying your cards go for the ones that are sold by charity’s so that the charity receives the money from the cards you’ve brought. They do some really nice designs too!
Why not create your own box of useful items, maybe some toiletries and a bit of food? Once your box is full take it to your nearest Salvation Army so they can hand it out to the homeless, I’m sure they’d really appreciate it.
Instead of giving out cards why not use the money you were going to spend on cards and give it to your chosen Charity?
And finally…..Compliment someone
It costs nothing, it makes you feel good and it makes the other person feel good. You could really cheer someone up with just a few words and besides; its Christmas and it’s a time where people should spread joy and happiness and what better way then to lift someone’s mood.
Do you do any good at Christmas? I’d love to hear your ideas below!
